I met a beautiful girl this past New Years. She is intelligent and has an incredible talent to sing!!! Immediately I felt an attraction to her, but quite didn't know how to approach her. I kept on thinking what I should have done differently to let her know that she captivated me, but as time flew by we grew closer as friends instead. This past March we went to Monterrey N.L. Mexico to check out DJ/Producer Sasha’s live set, and at the wee hours of the morning when all had ended and we where ready to go I caught a glimpse of Carolina as the sun hit her face and brought out the glow of her natural curly red her, I thought of creating that sight into a painting. I tried to keep a photographic memory of that instance, but to my surprise one of my friends had borrowed my camera and taken a picture of the exact same muse I had found inspiration in. So I used that picture as a reference and decided to add myself in the background as if I had just been rejected by her in an attempt to start a conversation and being disappointed thinking that just maybe if I had said something different or tried a little harder, there could have been something there. I also wanted to give her the look as if she might have had a second thought and maybe made a mistake not giving the guy an opportunity for he seemed like a nice person, its just that she was to intimidated by this stranger. “El Hubiera” can be interpreted as “Should have”. There is a saying in Spanish that goes, “El hubiera no existe” which translates to “ ‘I should have’ doesn’t really exist.”
