"Fallen"

Back in high school a friend passed away due to an automobile accident. I had known him since the third grade, so it made me remember the times when we were in Catholic Elementary School together. A church was loacted right next door to the school, and every so often there would be funeral services. For some reason, it always seemed like it would get gloomy every single time there was a funeral. I could have sworn that the morning would get more cloudy, the melancolic sounds of the church bells piercing through one's ears, the ever so slow moving cars following the herst, all these depressing factors combining at once to set the sorrowful tone of mortality. Pallbears walking the casket in, seemed as if they were moving in slow motion as if not wanting to take the deceased into the church for everyone knew what was to come. Back then I really didn't know much about the passing of a loved one, but u need just to look at the grimness of this ritual we all must go through to comprehend what was at hand.
The thought of having the angel at the footstep of the door to the church as if wanting to stop the funeral from taking place was the idea that came to me. As if the angel is blaming himself for not having paid close attention to when his human needed him the most. In a way yelling out to God "WHY HIM/HER?, PUNISH ME INSTEAD"
once I started the whole scene I thought adding the funeral would be to much for the viewer and thus they would get lost with so many things happening in the piece so I decided to leave it as is.
