I am a professional sculptor and painter based in central Florida. My clients are scattered from West Palm Beach to Michigan and I regard Florida as my backyard. Most of my work is fine art in the form of private commissions. I am also availible for commercial art projects.
My work falls into two general categories; commissioned work and personal creative work. My commissioned work tends to involve portraiture. The human face is a continent that will never be fully explored. This year my personal work includes “Existo” - a series of sculpture that centers around physics and our belief in an elegant universe - a rationally intelligible universe that operates in concert with philosophical and spiritual beliefs.
Regarding my personal work: I aspire to understand deeply, both traditional and modern art; I aspire to create art that compels the viewer to set aside his pre occupations and dream again for a moment. I want the viewer to leave his world and enter my world of ideas. Then I want him to wonder why he feels differently than he did before.
Delacroix called this “the operation of invincible charm” and it cannot be achieved if the art is designed as if it were an advanced math problem. It requires that the concept of the art be embodied in the material itself; In its composition, form and subtleties of gesture and expression. It requires that the artist begin with the end in mind. It requires the success of craft over novelty, of aesthetic value over entertainment value, of discipline over the clever device. This takes a lot of time. It also requires that the viewer take a moment to consider what he sees. My art is not loud and abrasive enough to overtake your senses until you let it in.
I aspire not to relive the past but to draw strength from it. My concepts do not center around the church and aristocracy but around the subjects that fascinate me, such as space, time, physics, love, conflict and the “Ascent of Man”.
I am a figurative sculptor and painter. I aspire to be what Donald Kuspit calls a "New Old Master"; Classically trained but atuned to the 21st Century and capable of creating art that is " ... again a means of aesthetic transcendence with no loss of criti
My weapons of choice: Clay, bronze, oil, pastel and pencil.
Classical and Modern
My career as a professional artist spans 16 years. I have been awarded many private and public art commissions, and 6 competitive individual artist grants including a grant from the George Sugarman Foundation.
Fine art commissions in the form of original figurative bronze sculpture, paintings and fine oil portraits.
I have a deep interest in the lives, motives and work of other artists. Some are widely known and some overlooked. All of whom reached a level of artistic perfection often at great personal expense. These include the likes of Alvin T. Marriot, Luis I. Kahn, Octavia Butler, Leonard Cohen, William Hart and many, many others.
